Bio of Career Coach, Gwyn Gilliss
A classically trained actress, Gwyn studied theatre at Carnegie Mellon University. Her career spans several decades during which time she appeared on Broadway in Kaufman and Hart's classic comedy,"The Man Who Came to Dinner" at The Circle in the Square with Ellis Raab and Carrie Nye and in Joshua Logan's (South Pacific, Mr. Roberts) last play, Trick co-starring with Tammy Grimes and Ian Richardson. Off B'way Gwyn starred in the rock musical of Love's Labour's Lost at the Cherry Lane Theatre and played major roles in American Repertory Theatres -from Shakespeare to Shaw, Moliere to Arthur Miller, Tennesee Williams to Noel Coward. (Favorites include: Blanche in Streetcar Named Desire, Elivira in Blithe Spirit, Beatrice in Much Ado About Nothing and Mina in the B'way tryout of Count Dracula). She played a wide range of characters in TV pilots, Primetime TV series and films and can be seen/heard in numerous major market commercials and voice-overs.
Some of her many contract and recurring roles on daytime series include: ABC’s All My Children, One Life to Live, Loving and Ryan's Hope, NBC’s Another World, As the World Turns and CBS's Guiding Light. Her best selling book,"The ABC's of Soaps" (a "how-to" for young actors wishing to get work on Daytime) is currently in it's third printing. Gwyn has appeared in or written and produced 13 pilots for primetime TV- Manhattan Stories, N.Y.J.D., citilife and Raunchy produced by her own production company, Laight Street Films. She created last season's sitcom pilot "Bloggers" and during this summer's mini-pilot season was a featured co-star in the upcoming Howard Reichmann HBO pilot Wired City.
